Eclipse Season is Here … And So Is My First Ever Exclusive Reading!

Virgo, the season of the Harvest in the northern hemisphere is here, and it begins and ends in tandem with eclipse season. The entirety of Virgo season (all 30 degrees of it!) will be about change this year for multiple reasons, and the odds are astronomical 😉 that it will unfold in unscripted and unpredictable ways for each and every one of us. Much of what occurs between August 23 and September 21 will come as a surprise, a dramatic release, a brilliant ending, or as seeds of a brand new beginning planted in our collective dreaming and personal lives.

There is SO much to say about these lunations coming up, but in this post I'm going to focus on the basics so you know what's going on and why you should care.

So What About Eclipses?

Not sure what eclipse season is about? Let's break down the basics:

For starters, it's all about the astronomy. The nodes of the moon point out where the Sun and Moon's paths intersect in the sky, signaling where eclipses happen (usually 4 in a year, but sometimes more!). When the Sun and Moon join or oppose each other (new and full moons, respectively) within ~18 degrees of these nodal points, we have eclipses. Right now, the South Node is in Virgo and North Node in Pisces. They change signs every 18 months or so, and they are currently about halfway through this axis (at ~19° moving backwards from 30 towards 0).

The New Moon in Virgo on Saturday August 23 at 1:06AM Central Time falls at the very beginning of Virgo season (0°22’). This is not an eclipse, as it falls just outside the 18° separation window from the south node. But since it is the beginning of a lunar cycle containing an eclipse, it's considered the kick-off to eclipse season. September 7 will be a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 15°22' Pisces. Two weeks after that, we will have a New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo at 29°05'. Just sneaking it in there before the Sun changes signs into Libra within the next day. 

Every single degree of Virgo season is being moved by the winds of change. Virgos, get ready. Pisces, gird your loins! Mutable signs, let’s do this!

These cosmic nudges—or full-body tackles, depending on the intensity and alignments to our personal natal charts–often coincide with spiritual and emotional awakenings, adjustments, losses, and realizations. 

Lunar eclipses at full moons relate to endings, culminations, purging emotional depths, and breakthroughs. Solar eclipses at new moons relate to the dimming of conscious light, rebirth, seeding new beginnings, and shifts in leadership or authority (historically speaking). Eclipses can play out immediately, and further unfold over the following 6+ months based on lunar cycles. When we look back on our life story and line them up with eclipses, the realizations of just how unexpectedly and harmonically life unfolds for us can blow our minds. I know it has for me!

So for you, dear reader, these eclipses are happening in two houses (signifying areas of your life) in your natal chart. If you look up your own birth chart and discover you have planets or angles (Ascendant, Descendant, Midheaven/MC, or Imum Coeli/IC) in either Pisces or Virgo or the other two mutable signs Sagittarius and Gemini, these eclipses could especially activate your life.
