January 2026 Tarotscopes- What's Coming & Going for Each Rising Sign
As we honor the turning of this year, we call in 2026 with tarot card pulls for every rising sign.
January brings some potent cosmic weather. We have the first Full Moon in Cancer on January 3rd. Then within 3 days (Jan 6-9) Venus & Mars will link up in Capricorn and also join the heart of the Sun (aka cazimi) to be reborn in their synodic cycles—initiating new stories based on Capricorn's forward movement, steady growth, and endurance. We also have a New Moon in Capricorn on January 18, and Neptune returns to Aries after its retrograde back into Pisces—rolling in like fog inside a fiery dreamscape. Expect to see more individuation in media among other themes. Neptune hasn't been in Aries (full time) since the mid-1800's, so we will discover this illusory energy as a collective over the next 14 years.
I'm co-hosting a Cozy Full Moon in Cancer gathering with the Intuitive Collective at ALTAR Community. Grab your spot for pillow talk, cacao, and an energetic recalibration.
January 1st is not the only New Year you'll experience this year. We celebrate the turning of the Gregorian calendar in the middle of Capricorn season, but the astrological New Year doesn't shift until the Spring Equinox when the first sign of the zodiac, Aries Season, begins.
As we honor the turning of this year, we call in 2026 with tarot card pulls for every rising sign. If you don't know your rising sign but have your accurate birth time (look at your birth certificate or announcement) and birth city/state/country, you can pull up an accurate natal chart here for free. If you don't have an accurate birth time or exact place, then feel free to read for your Sun sign or major placements.
As Always, Listen To Your Own Intuition
Like Levar Burton in Reading Rainbow would say, "You don't have to take my word for it." I can give you a high level reading, but the way a card lands for you is completely personal and individual, and your intuition knows what is for you and what to focus on. When seeing these cards, listen inward. Feel the response in your body to the imagery. Where do you feel a flutter or a warmth? Does an emotion surface, even for a moment? What part of the image sticks out to you most? That piece may have another layer of meaning just for you.
It's vital to acknowledge with all divination that free will is always available to you. No future timeline is set in stone. We are working with energy, patterns, and probabilities. You are the most equipped to enact change for the future by being present in the Now.

Aries Rising
Card 1: Seven of Cups
You may have been in a period of indecision, fantasizing, or dissociation from what you really want. There is a watery daydreaming quality to this card that suggests you're not sure which of your desires will be fruitful or most correct for you. You can imagine so many outcomes, that you may have lost sight of your Why, or the intention you've set around this situation. Come back to your center and internal guidance to discern which passion/desire/hope/dream is the one you want to nurture this month. Now is the time to choose where to point your heart.
Card 2: Ace of Pentacles
If you make this choice, you are empowered to manifest something completely new in your life. There seems to be a long-term energy to this pull. Like you realize the reason why it's been hard to choose is you can anticipate the hard work in front of you. Pentacles take time to mature—the slowest suit in tarot. But you have this idea rattling around in your pocket, and it's surrounded by signs of promise, luck, openings, and playfulness. Embrace the long game and begin the thing.
Taurus Rising
Card 1: Nine of Wands
My sweet Taurus Risings, you've been going through it. Perhaps for a very long time. The nines signify are a personal culmination or achievement, and you are to be commended for the long road you've traveled, the challenges and fears you've faced, the trauma you've survived, and the endurance you've shown. Notice the blossoms on these wands. Your toil has not been in vain, my friend, Your efforts and passion for achievement, success, or merely survival are bearing fruit.
You may be looking back on the past year like "What the fresh hell was all of that?" And you bear the scars of your journey. But you also know it had a purpose. You've experienced highs and lows you can be proud of. You're leaving this behind. There is much for you to appreciate and honor in yourself. Take time to give gratitude to yourself for how you handled life's winding roads—even if you feel like you didn't always show up as your "best self." I'm so proud of you.
Card 2: Eight of Swords
After all of that effort, you may have started to believe things were never working out for you, or that you (and perhaps the collective) would never be free of the mental prisons, lies, and beliefs that keep you/us small and feeling trapped in old cycles and struggles. But oh boy, look at that light shining above. This trap is not real. There are no real walls or restrictions around you. You cannot see it yet, but freedom for you (and all of us) is right around the corner.
January is about getting free of the lies we tell ourselves and the beliefs that keep us small. It's time to choose to release yourself from the tiny mental prison your anxieties and fears have confined you to. Can you feel the light on your skin? The truth is coming. The revelations are upon you. The reality of who you are and what you're capable of is ready to liberate you. You have to choose to see that truth, embrace your freedom from old limiting beliefs, and witness your situation for what it truly is—instead of what you imagine it is based on fear and doubt.
Gemini Rising
Card 1: Eight of Swords
You've been ignoring something or have chosen to put blinders on to avoid facing it. There is a series of old, established beliefs about yourself that seem to constantly circle inside your mind—perhaps unconsciously. But what our minds hyper-fixate on unconsciously must eventually become conscious, because it's those programs that truly run our lives, like the most obnoxious and insidious backseat driver. You're being told what to do and what choices to make by a part of you that's trying to keep you safe. But that part doesn't need to fear any longer. That part of you is working on an old program and set of principles that were perhaps given to you as a child. "You will never be ___," or, "You'll never make it if you __."
Let me be a voice that tells you you are enough, you have always been enough, and you are equipped and capable enough to face anything you see when you take off these blinders to the root of the issue. You don't have to shame yourself for being trapped in old cycles of thought and fear. There is nothing wrong with how younger you kept you safe. You did the best you could. It's time now to let go of the root cause of your self sabotage and avoidance survival mechanisms. Notice the birds flying overhead, modeling freedom and flow to you. Modeling how it feels to throw your wings wide (not tied behind your back, seemingly powerless) and letting life take you in the wind into the next stage of your journey. The sun shines above you, and the birds will guide you.
Card 2: XI Balance (Justice)
Yes, that bird is again here in serve to you and honor your journey. You have found your way free of the old patterns, and now you are returning to an inner balance. What comes to mind is the necessary yin/yang of light and shadow in our world of duality. We cannot have one without the other. The scales of justice need both sides in harmony in order to find balance. Your inner light and shadow are entering a new stage of equanimity. Instead of your dark thoughts or doubts and fears running the show, you expand to hold all of yourself with radical honesty and compassion.
Notice the shadowy colors of the Eight of Swords and the bright warmth of the Balance card. You have experienced the darkest parts of life and survived, and you can still embrace joy and openness—a willingness to love all of yourself, see the truth in all of it, and embrace the parts of you that have been shunned or shamed in the past. Something deep within you is coming to the light and reaching a significant reset that will serve your steadiness and growth.
Cancer Rising
Card 1: Seven of Coins
Perhaps you've taken a gamble or a chance with your resources (internal and external), and you're wondering how the game is going to play out based on the decisions and strategies you've used up until now. I get a sense that you might have been taking chances with your finances, your body, or playing fast and loose with your physical needs or capacity. This energy at the table feels electric, the tension high. Which player at the table resonates most with you, and how do they reflect your journey this past year with resources of all kinds?
How will this hand you've been dealt play out? You have to wait and see.
Card 2: Nine of Wands
There is a culmination of hard work or a long road arriving in January. An energy of resilience and endurance is with you. You're looking back on how good you had it in the Seven, and you're kind of wishing to go back there and maybe bet higher and take more chances, capitalizing on the moment. Or conversely, perhaps you wish you'd been be more conservative or cautious in how you spent your resources and time. You feel a bit banged up emotionally or energetically, and it seems like self-care and reflection is at the top of your to-do list in January. Have faith, because you've almost reached the finish line of the efforts and work you've put in to your project/job/efforts. The reality-facing results of the game you've been playing are arriving for you. We can see there is an abundance of energy around you with the blossoming wands, but it came with some cost. Perhaps next time around you'll play things differently, but for now, be proud of how far you've come and remember to reflect on what it took to get you here—lush surroundings, bandages, and all.
Leo Rising
Card 1: King of Coins
You've had to step up and be responsible more than you normally would like. You've got Boss energy and abundant security shining out of this card. At the same time, we see the snake of transformation and shedding at your feet, showing us that you've had to let go of parts of yourself that you've outgrown, and that hasn't been easy. The authority and position of power you may be carrying has caused you to stretch yourself past your comfort zone, but it's paying off. When you embrace your capabilities and own your internal boundaries, you see how much you can take on and still succeed.
This season of expansion has left you feeling a bit lonely at the top. It's nice to be surrounded by luxury and abundance, but have you lost sight of why you chose this expansion in the first place? It's time to let go of the need to control things and be "the boss" of your life for a while. You may feel responsible for others in a way that has made you lose sight of your own inner joy and personal passions.
Card 2: Page of Wands
The inner child is calling! It's time to leave the stuffy attic of success and come down and touch dirt. Your creativity has been itching at you to play and get silly with it, invent something, take a risk, and maybe play with proverbial fire instead of feeling like you have to play responsible all the time. Leos need youthful creativity and expression to truly shine! This Page is asking you to come out and play. Go exploring. Get out of your office, stop focusing on building wealth, and take a hike. Look for fresh views and vistas to inspire you. This will help you in every area of your life, even if it feels silly or like an escape. Go seek joy, and open up to the discovery that awaits you!
Collective readings are a fantastic tool to practice discernment and check in with the energetic weather. And you also deserve deep guidance and quality time tailored specifically to you.
Join me at the table. I offer readings ranging from 4 cards to unlimited cards to examine what you're facing as the calendar turns.
Virgo Rising
Card 1: IV The Emperor
You've shored up your defenses around the purview of your responsibility and authority. You've been paying so much attention to structure, order, and perhaps power—protecting what's yours, readying for the worst that could happen. You've possibly cut ties or ended partnerships or business relationships because of it. But look at the sturdiness of your environment, and safety you've prioritized, the vision you've achieved by making it happen. You know what it takes to plan out what you want and execute it tot he letter. This time of taking up the mantel is coming to a close. You don't have to be so alone at the top of the mountain anymore with only the hard-headed rams to keep you company. It can be lonely at the top.
Card 2: Eight of Coins
The joy of achievement isn't always in what you build by yourself. It can be even more meaningful when you build in community. The artistry and beauty of what you've created will be perfected with others. You may struggle to trust others with your vision. Your plan, though well-founded and ambitiously executed, needs warmth, love, and collaboration to become the great abundance you truly desire. You're opening into a season of excellence and mastery. There is so much to be proud of!
You also have some final touches to be made ahead. If you're used to being the boss and going the hard road alone, you may need to share the load in order to complete the cycle/project you've initiated. Don't worry—it'll get done! But come down off the mountain and get your hands dirty with your compatriots, coworkers, or friends. Something truly beautiful and worthwhile awaits.
Libra Rising
Card 1: XXI The World
Wow, you're leaving an entire life cycle behind in 2025, Libras. There's an enormous story of personal and soul development that is coming to a close. Do you see the tiny person sitting on the branch? That's you! You may feel like your life is small, or this change might seem minuscule compared to the scale and scope of your life or the world around you. But what you're doing to heal and integrate is making waves wider and deeper than you can imagine.
I also get a loud sense of ancestral completion. You've healed something, closed the loop, or ended a cycle that has been with your genetic line for generations. The ribbon in the roots shows me just how deep this story goes. It's been tangled up in your family line, and you are the one to cut it loose! Bravo! The theme of cycles repeats with the planets orbiting the World tree, emphasizing the vastness of the energetic impact of this life stage that is reaching its culmination. It's time to review who and where you've been, how far you've come, and what you've learned about yourself along the way.
Card 2: Ten of Cups
Your ancestors are so freaking proud of you! True joy, genuine wholeness, and communal satisfaction are all present in this card. We see the shadows of adults in the doorway—those ancestors gazing proudly and gratefully at all that has grown in their garden. And there you are, playing joyfully among the roses, life and love flowing freely from the fountain. Your heart deserves to feel full. You deserve to feel free and open after all the ups and downs that have brought you here. You are safe behind the fence and boundaries you've established in your life, surrounded by love and protecting your peace.
I'm so proud of you, my friend. This is a long road coming and hasn't been easy. You've shed tears, shared grief, and allowed yourself to move through it all. When the south node leaves your 12th house in 2026, I expect you will feel this fulfilling purpose even more completely.
Sagittarius Rising
Card 1: III The Empress
The first word that popped into my mind was "nourishment" followed swiftly by "self-care." You may have been in a period of embracing yourself in radical ways, allowing "the soft animal of your body to love what it loves" as Mary Oliver says in her poem Wild Geese. It feels as if you've been healing and connecting to your intuition more deeply, engaging with beauty and love, art and creation, nurturing and caretaking.
There has been a release into the natural flow of life that you've intended, opened to, or initiated on a deeper level. It feels like a deep, growing self-love has been the medicine you've chosen lately. This is the energy that fuels what you will transform into next. The food (both physical, spiritual, and energetic) that you've been feeding yourself has provided you with what you need to lovingly sustain yourself in the wake of revelations to come.
Card 2: Seven of Swords
"The truth will out." This person appears to be a thief, taking five swords and leaving two behind. Are they only taking what is necessary? Or are they strategically disarming an enemy or power that has hoarded the truth for far too long? Is this a Robin Hood figure or a simple thief? A cat watches knowingly from the floor while air billowing the sheer white curtains. Do we see the truth of this story at first glance, or do we need to look deeper? Things are moving swiftly, and a fresh breeze of honesty and revelation is coming for all that has laid in the shadows beneath the surface.
You will see this collectively, but in your personal life, there is a choice you will be making about what you're willing to uncover, reveal, or excavate from the unconscious. Shadow work comes to mind. There is a contrast between light and shadow in this image, and it's important to recognize that the parts of us that hold the most light can seem like shadows at first. It feels like the healing and creation you've been engaging with has built you up so that you can expand to hold more of yourself in all directions. You now have the capacity to see your shadow as a brilliant part of your wholeness. You have practiced self-compassion and love so that you can allow what you see as "too much" or "unworthy" about you as perfect, good, and completely worthy. There may be confrontations ahead, but know that all of you is welcome. You can discern the truth in complicated situations.
Scorpio Rising
Card 1: Three of Swords
There was a recent or fresh pain you've endured—though with pain and trauma, time is relative, and not a measure tracked by the nervous system. I say recent because we still see the action and movement of the swords, the drips of blood to indicate the life still left in the heart, even though injured. A classic depiction of the three of swords, we are reminded that it is the mind, thoughts, and words (swords as the suit of air) that inflict the deepest cuts in our tender hearts. This card today is not so much about sadness as is it about the damage we may inflict upon ourselves or others in an instant. How careful have you been with your self-talk, your words, and your criticisms of late? There is healing in the process here, and it may take time to understand what these swords are as the root cause of your pain. Look first to the mind.
Look to patterns of relating. A thought dropped in that perhaps one of you has been experiencing pain within a friend group or social circle. Or what you've been enduring privately has not been fully supported by the people around you the way you needed. If this is the case, I hope you are able to be tender and gentle with yourself and recognize this as helpful information about how to ask for help, and who to ask for it.
Card 2: VII The Chariot
It's time to move on. There's a strength that has been found in the loss or harm of the Three of Swords that has inspired you to take action or change direction. Sometimes it takes a shock or a jolt to our system to inspire a shift that benefits us in the long run. The Chariot is a big life shift energy. The birds here are again, three, and related to air. The realizations you've had since your disappointments or challenges are your guides for this journey. It seems as if you're about to set out and away from a comfort zone or home base, foundation, or chapter in your life that you've long settled into. You have luggage and books with you because you've learned so much from this last chapter of life, and you're ready to move on and learn even more from the experiences and road ahead. This feels like liberation and like a rapid flight into the unknown. Ride on, my friend. You know when. it's time to leave what doesn't serve you anymore. You know when old patterns are finished and the mysterious unknown ahead is better than the stable/settled foundations you've relied upon up until now. Be courageous and bold! This journey is right on time.
Capricorn Rising
Card 1: XIV Temperance
What I noticed right away was the broken window behind this beautiful teatime tableau. Everything feels perfect and serene until you see the holes and cracked glass, as if this scene has previously survived an attack, or has been caught in the crossfire of conflict or external struggle. Perhaps you've been on a journey of seeking inner peace, integration, and balance in the midst of turmoil. The focus is on the flow of water into the cup, held by a steady hand. This is the inner self, dignified and serene, knowing they are safe no matter what is happening around them. Capable of seeing, enjoying, and sharing beauty and peace even when instability is present. You have this same capability. You may not have felt it—perhaps stress and anxiety has fed you messages of fear for survival—but this peaceful part of you remains, modeling how to continue with life gracefully and hopefully no matter what. Are you listening to this inner voice? It is much quieter than the mind. This card shows you are being called to balance and connect without using external chaos as an excuse. Don't stop embracing the wonder and joy of life just because of some broken glass.
Card 2: Six of Wands
The challenges you've faced balancing your fears and faith have equipped you for one hell of a victory lap. The game you are playing on this earth is bringing you to the championship round, my friend. There are public, visible, exciting victories ahead. You are being lifted up by your teammates, your squad, your peers! These victories come to you when you surrender to the balance and peace of inner Temperance. Living in fear doesn't feed the exuberant joy of the big win. Knowing it's coming for you no matter what cracks or falls around you assures the final score of success. That is the inner confidence we see in Temperance paying off with the celebration of a hard-working team. You've earned your accolades, friend. You've played the game with skill and passion. Keep it fun (after all, life is but a game), and rest assured you are protected and the victory lap is coming soon.
Aquarius Rising
Card 1: Seven of Wands
You've been steadily climbing towards a goal that has probably been growing inside of you or in your work for some time now. It may have taken you a long time to choose to step onto this ladder from the security of the ground below. You knew that if you truly began the climb and committed to your goal, that you couldn't give up or go back. As Yoda said, "Do or do not, there is no try." You've been taking that to heart. You've committed and stuck with it, and you're ascending! You're so high up in the air that you are among the clouds already. Keep going! Your commitment of your energy to what matters most to you is paying off in a rapid growth and visibility. Your confidence is drawing more and more to your message. This climb is almost over. The next stage of your quest begins.
Card 2: Three of Wands
This is the next stage. This lush vista and stunning landscape is what you find at the top of the climb. You are starting to see the results of all of this effort coming in to you. Receive it. Receive it. Take it all in. This land is not yours to own, but yours to play in, explore, and enjoy. This next chapter of growth is all about expansion, and with your newfound boundaries, confidence, and commitment, the possibilities seem limitless. Allow your dreams to take you even farther than you thought possible. It felt hard because you were stretching yourself well beyond your comfort zone. But dedication pays off. Now you find yourself among friends, collaborators, and teammates who believe in your dream and want to walk the road with you. the seven of wands felt like a solo journey to the top. But it helped you grow into the person who could now show up fully with companions and partners. Your creative output is about to expand in ways you don't even see coming.
Pisces Rising
Card 1: Ten of Wands
What is the burden you've been carrying on your own, my friend? Have you grown so quickly that you didn't realize how much you were taking on? Have your projects become unwieldy due to the strain? This is shouting to me about Saturn being in your sign since March 2023. What have you grown into/taken on/been challenged by since then that feels like you've been carrying the load of ten people?
Delegate! Take two trips (gasp, I know). Surrender the unnecessary pieces of what you're carrying. Perhaps you have been asked to step up into a role you never expected to take on at this stage in your life. Is it the right one for you, or did you not know how to say no or set boundaries? Saturn in Pisces has been teaching you about capacity, boundaries, the trudge of linear time and growth, and the strain of responsibility. You are ending a cycle of playing the martyr by taking everything on without regard to if it's really yours to carry in the first place. Don't worry; if you let some of the load rest on the ground, it will be there for you to pick up when you come back to it. Heal the burnout. Say no to new commitments for a while. It is safe to do so and may serve your health—physical and emotional—more than you expect.
Card 2: Ace of Swords
I get an immediate feeling of lightness when I see this gorgeous Ace appear! Moving from burdens to brilliant ideas. From burnout to refreshing truth. What I see in your two cards is what I speak about so often in Circle or ritual. We need to release energy to create space for the new. We can't just pile on, we need to cleanse and release in order for what's coming next to have a place to land. By laying down what clogs your drain, or delegating and setting boundaries about what you are taking on, you are setting the stage for clarity to come in and revolutionize your life.
The spaciousness I feel when I see the Ace of Swords is like finally being able to take a deep breath after struggling up a steep hill. The moment you have rested enough to fill your lungs completely again, that is the moment you can appreciate how far you've come to get here. Make space for the new idea, fresh clarity, pivot in direction, or the conversation you've been avoiding having. Make space for the new by surrendering what is no longer aligned. A spacious new alignment awaits.
You are more than capable to meet this moment. Let's walk the road together.
